NEW PAGE!
A new page has been added for the SC Breakfast Club. What is the SC Breakfast Club?? Quoting their web site (which also has a schedule of upcoming events): "It's a home cooked southern breakfast, great fellowship and flying! Every other Sunday since 1938, pilots & aviation enthusiasts in and near South Carolina meet for breakfast at an airport somewhere in South Carolina." Stoney and I have been going to these for years but got much more active since he co-hosted one in Walterboro in 2011. We always took pictures of the airplanes that flew in as well as during the Breakfast. It was just recently that I was inspired to make videos of the event when I saw some posted on YouTube. The ones completed so far are:

Check out our Christmas card for this year.
October 26, 2011
Made October 9, 2011, this is a litter of six kittens when they were about 7 weeks old. These are kittens born to a mother cat belonging to a neighbor. They were in a pasteboard box on her front porch. As soon as they were weaned, the mother cat moved them to our back yard. The neighbor couldn't take the kittens in, so we kept them - with the intention of re-locating them to the same farm that houses the re-located ferals from the State Museum.
Made October 17, 2011, this is of the same litter at 8 weeks. Of course, we have to keep them until they are old enough to be spayed and neutered before they go out to the farm - which means the middle of January, 2012. Needless to say, they are not likely to be going anywhere since we have now given them names - Blackie, Jr, Arabella, Amelia, Lindberg, Doolittle, and Jacqueline ("Jackie").
Made October 23, 2011, this is a follow-up to the video made September 6, 2011 ("After the First Night") of the cat colony at the State Museum.
September 25, 2011
Newly added is a video of the feral colony maintained by Cheezefriend "Straycatz". She has four in her colony at her home in Georgia. They are Eeny (Eeny Bean), Meeny (Sphinxy), Miney (Money Boy), and Moe (Lil Moe). When she saw the story of our colony at the State Museum, she asked if I could pull together a video of her colony. She sent me the disc from her camcorder as well as a few still photos. Here is the result.
What, you may ask, is a "Cheezefriend"? She is one of several folks I've met at a humor site called ICanHasCheezburger.com. The site has pictures of cats with funny captions and has a growing social network of people who like cats. It is also responsible for forming a new language, LOLSpeak. This is a language believed to be spoken by LOLCats and is currently being used in the LOLCat Bible Translation Project.
Also added is a video put together for Cheezefriend Tookat - who was diagnosed with Stage 1 Endometrial cancer. I found a piece written by Nelson Mandala, added some music and LOLCat pictures, and sent it to her as a little "get well" message. You can see it here.

After over a year of work, we have finally caught the last of our feral cat colony. I caught the little “kitten factory” we call Mama Kitty August 21. She was spayed on August 22nd. She was pregnant again with 5 more on the way. We returned her to the colony August 28. A video of the Return of Mama Kitty is here.
That same night, we caught the only survivor of Mama Kitty's spring litter of five, named her ‘Grey’, and had her spayed on August 29. We returned her to the colony on September 4. A video of the Return of Little Grey is here. An additional video is here documenting the colony after Little Grey has spent her 1st night back home.
So – that’s it! The entire cat colony has been adopted, neutered and re-located, or neutered and returned. There will be four remaining in the colony – Big ‘O’, Pippi, Mama Kitty, and Grey – and we will continue to maintain them up there for the rest of their lives.
All told, we processed 22 cats. Not a large colony – but it would have certainly been much larger (and a lot more candidates for fox food) had we not started this project.
If you want to catch part of our cat colony story, click on either 'Cats' or 'Christmas', then scroll down to 2010 Christmas Card.
